The first all-student-major production in BAA’s new 500-seat state-of-the-art theatre was Shrek! The Musical. The show, which ran from March 16 to March 19, 2023, was the school’s first in-person production since before the COVID-19 pandemic. Directed by BAA’s Artistic Director Maura Tighe, Shrek! The Musical was chosen because it enabled students to demonstrate a range of acting abilities, vocal skills, and technical understanding by using all of the new equipment in the school’s thoughtfully designed facility. The show, which celebrates the power of being one’s true self, was also chosen because of the themes of inclusiveness and the welcoming of the diverse and underrepresented.
