Safety Reporting

The Boston Public Schools has support and reporting protocols related to anti-bullying and anti-harassment and bias.

The Boston Public Schools and Boston Arts Academy have no higher priority than ensuring every student and every employee is

  • Respected and cherished

  • Physically safe

  • Never targeted with bias-based conduct or bullying of any kind

  • Never subject to unwanted touching or any form of sexual misconduct

All employees must report possible bias-based or sexual misconduct toward students to a school administrator or the district’s Office of Equity at [email protected] or 617-635-9650.

All employees must report concerns regarding possible child abuse or neglect to a school administrator, who will then determine whether to file a 51-A report with the Department of Children and Families.

All employees must report possible bullying to a school administrator or the district’s 24/7 Safe Space and Bullying Prevention hotline at 617-592-2378 (call or text).

Every incident is addressed promptly and thoroughly, and carefully documented according to BPS protocols.

The Boston Public Schools has multiple ways to report a bullying concern:

  • Report a concern to a BAA administrator and request that a bullying investigation be opened

  • Call or text the Safe Space and Bullying Prevention Hotline at 617-592-2378, available 24/7 and staffed by trained counselors from Succeed Boston at the Counseling and Intervention Center, or

  • Send an email to [email protected], or Complete THIS online form.

If it is an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
