Boston Medical Center (BMC) is excited to invite young people living in Boston/Greater Boston Area to apply to join our Youth Advisory Board (YAB). We are looking for energetic, motivated, and compassionate BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) people between the ages of 16 and 25 years old to advise on and drive health improvements, decisions, and initiatives that impact the Boston community.
The YAB will join our Equity Partnership Network to ensure youth voices and perspectives are at the heart of our equity mission. It will work alongside other community advisory boards to ensure Boston Medical Center’s work is responsive to and addresses community health needs. Successful applicants will have an active role in shaping our work, outreach, and impact.

The YAP is conducting research and needs help reaching as many LGBTQ+ youth and allies as possible.
Youth Activism Project (YAP) is researching what makes LGBTQ+ youth feel safe to express themselves in school and youth programs. YAP are asking LGBTQ+ youth and allies from 6th-12th grade to help them answer their research question.
Youth can contribute to YAP research by completing a short survey and/or by submitting original images/artwork:

YAP will share the photovoice images and their research insights with our community this coming spring (and you will be invited!), but youth information will always be kept confidential. The National Parks of Boston is recruiting youth for summer positions!
They’re currently recruiting high schoolers ages 15-18 for Storytellers in Parks, a park program starting May 18 and ending August 18. This is a paid opportunity ($15/hr) where youth learn photography and videography skills to share digital stories of Boston’s history, communities, and landscapes. No experience is required and all technical equipment will be supplied!

BAA Summer Reading
Offered exclusively for BAA students, our Summer Reading Program has served over 400 struggling readers. As we participate in a grade blind admission process some of our artists have a gap in their literacy skills.
The Summer Reading Program teaches intensive word analysis techniques, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies through reading material that inspires and motivates BAA students to think deeply about issues that matter to them. Our goal is to position our graduates not only as passionate, gifted artists but also as articulate scholars.
BAA Summer Math
Our Summer Math Program aims to increase numeracy, Geometry, and Algebra skills that are essential for not only advancement in mathematics classes but also for life. We are proud that students typically earn higher grades in math after experiencing our summer math program.
Mathematics & Science for Minority Students
Free summer STEM Program, currently accepting applications from eligible 9th graders (deadline is December 31 for Summer 2022)
Founded by Phillips Academy in 1977, Mathematics & Science for Minority Students—better known as (MS)2—is a three-summer residential program held on the Phillips Academy campus in Andover, Mass. It is free of charge to selected scholars! Beginning the summer after 9th grade, the five-week STEM program is open to African American, Latinx, and Native American students who have a demonstrated financial need. Rigorous yet infused with fun, (MS)2 boosts academic proficiency, improves self-confidence, and promotes independence in a safe and supportive environment. (MS)2 operates concurrently with the Academy’s Summer Session, which offers academic enrichment to 550 students from around the United States and abroad.

Looking for a Paid Leadership Opportunity?
Looking for performing arts students to work as CITs and Junior Counselors in our Performing Arts Summer Program.
Our JC positions are paid positions and are open to students ages 17+.
Our CIT positions are unpaid internships. Lunch is provided.
We have a bus for campers and staff that stops at two locations in Boston.
The Charles River Creative Arts Program has been running for the past 52 years and has won several awards. We are a multi-arts program that allows students to explore the process of creating art (visual art, music, dance, musical theater, theater, creative writing, costume design, woodworking, animation, etc). https://jobs.criver.com/students-and-new-grads
JC’s will have the opportunity to create and teach at least one performing/creative arts class of their choice. CITs will learn and participate in entire process of being a camp counselor under the mentorship of an experienced counselor/teacher. Students can apply to work for the entire 8 weeks of the summer program or for any number of individual 2 week sessions.
The following programs are offered in partnership with the Boston Public Schools Arts Office and are open to all BPS students. The schedule is flexible. Students can choose to participate in the first week, second week, or the full two-week program, culminating in a final showcase presented at a professional venue. No experience is necessary and all levels are welcome.
Summer Dance
The BAA Summer Dance Program offers professional training for dancers looking for rigorous study to push them to the next level. We offer training to students with varying levels of experience, and students audition the first day to be placed in a group of their peers. The final showcase will be performed with our resident professional dance companies.
Summer Film
The Summer Film Program emphasizes the whole student: creativity, technique, mindfulness, and curiosity. Over the course of two weeks, students are able to be involved in the entire filmmaking process from pre-production planning to post-production to create their own films. Students will also learn the basics of location scouting, screenwriting, lighting, sound, budget development, and more in an individualized learning environment of 12 students. Filmmaking is a highly collaborative art form so our program works on building interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work as a part of a team.
