Boston Arts Academy’s Health and Wellness Program supports the medical, mental health, and social-emotional needs of all students. Staffed by Dr. Kwame Dance, a clinical psychologist,
a school nurse, health educators, and clinical and nursing interns, the program strives to provide early identification and treatment of psychological and social-emotional concerns.
The Health and Wellness Program at Boston Arts Academy offers
a range of clinical services to students and their families, including crisis intervention, in-person and telehealth counseling support, group counseling, mentoring, and case management support. Services are provided at no cost to students or their families.
Health Class
Boston Arts Academy partners with the Boston Public Health Commission to embed health curriculum in our Physical Education program. Students are required to take one semester per year. Classes cover topics such as coping with anxiety and depression, healthy relationships, substance abuse education, decision-making, and sexual health.
