Dance Auditions
Audition Requirements
Application Deadline: January 17, 2026
To audition for Dance, you must complete the online application by this date.
💡 Tip: We strongly recommend attending the Audition Workshop in November to help you prepare.
Your in-person audition will include four parts:
Elemental Movements: Ballet Skills
Elemental Movements: Modern Dance Skills
Improvisational Exercise: Led by BAA faculty
Solo Performance (required): – All dancers are required to perform a 1 minute solo in the style of their choice.
Please select music that is a “clean” edit and bring the song on a smartphone, or if needed, staff can access music available on Spotify.
Attire
Preferred: Leotard, tights, and ballet shoes
Hair secured, with face and neck (cervical spine) visible
If you don’t have traditional dancewear, you may wear:
A fitted t-shirt or tank top
Leggings or sweatpants
❌ Street clothes or jeans are not permitted
Judging Criteria
Callbacks
After your audition, some students may be invited to attend a live callback.
Callbacks are by invitation only and simply means that the panel would like to see you again before making a final decision.
During callbacks, you may be asked to:
Perform your solo again
Participate in a dance class/instruction
