Our Mission
We support BAA, the city’s only public high school for the visual and performing arts, creating opportunities that would not otherwise be available for students who are passionate about the arts.
Founded in 1999 by a group of engaged parents, educators, and community members, the Boston Arts Academy Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization. We help bridge the growing gap between the school’s allocation from the Boston Public Schools, and the true cost of a high-quality education that is both arts-intensive and college preparatory.
Each year we raise between 35% and 40% of the school’s budget from private sources. Support from foundations, corporations, and individual donors is critical to the school’s ability to offer a comprehensive arts and academic education.
As young artists, many BAA students think differently, look different, and are sensitive to their surroundings. Even more, they face an uphill climb to access high quality education:
In support of the school and the students, our foundation has raised over $14 million to enhance their experience:
The Boston Arts Academy believes in supporting every student, and the Foundation continues that work supporting BAA alumni long after they move on to college or professional careers. We offer opportunities for networking, professional development, and continued creative collaboration.
