Gina Higgins

Gina Higgins has been working in the Boston Public Schools for twelve years. Currently, she is completing her sixth year as a Special Education teacher at the Boston Arts Academy, where she has taught freshman and sophomore Learning Center, Sophomore Writing Seminar and Visual Arts Advisory. During her time at BAA, Mrs. Higgins has held additional leadership positions as Assessment Coordinator for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 school years, coordinating and reporting on internal and external assessments at BAA, including MCAS and MELA-O/MEPA testing. She will also assume the role as Learning Center Department Chair for the 2010-11 school year.

In addition to her work at BAA, Mrs. Higgins has worked as a consultant at the Boston Teacher Residency Program, teaching first year teacher residence in a Differentiated Instruction and Assessment Course. Prior to working at BAA, Mrs. Higgins was the Special Education Coordinator and Special Education teacher at New Mission High School in Roxbury, a Boston Public School Pilot School. Her academic accomplishments include a Bachelors of Arts in English from the University of Miami, FL and a M.Ed. in Special Education from Lesley College, Cambridge, MA.
