Amy Shapiro has been working in the Boston Public Schools for seventeen years. She is excited for her first year at Boston Arts Academy, where she will provide support for English Learners and will teach English Language and Literary Arts for English Learners.
Prior to working at BAA, Ms. Shapiro taught English Language Arts and English as a Second Language at three Boston schools: Orchard Gardens K8 School, Boston Community Leadership Academy, and Charleston High School. She also worked as an instructional aide at the Eliot K-8 School and the Muriel S. Snowden International School. Ms. Shapiro believes strongly in creating inclusive schools. She is a Nationally Board Certified teacher of English. Her academic accomplishments include a B.A. in English Literature from Wesleyan University and an M.Ed. in School Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is currently working on improving her Spanish language skills and earning her Ed.S. in School Psychology at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
