Gretta Olton

Design and Visual Communication Teacher

Gretta relocated to Boston from New York City in 1995. She holds a BA from Wesleyan University in Connecticut, a BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York, and a MAT from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where she was honored with the Book Award for her outstanding graduate work in 2017.

In 1996, Gretta established a full-service graphic design and web development firm. Her company quickly gained a reputation for excellence, serving a diverse array of clients including major dot-com and technology firms, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and prestigious universities. The firm garnered numerous awards for its exceptional work in UX, UI, and graphic design.

In 2017, Gretta expanded her expertise into education, becoming a licensed Art Teacher in Massachusetts. She is also certified in Career and Technical Education and Sheltered English Immersion. In 2018, she launched “Studio M7,” an innovative student-run graphic design firm at BAA. Studio M7 provides students with hands-on experience as professional designers and has been involved in significant projects such as designing the BAA curtain wall—a striking 75-foot glass and steel façade for the school—creating inspirational posters for art rooms across the Boston Public Schools district, producing invitations for the Mayor’s office, and contributing to various special projects for BPS departments district wide.

Gretta continues to improve her art and teaching skills by annually enrolling in several graduate level courses.
