The two athletes appeared at the Boston Arts Academy to surprise and hype up students during the unveiling of the school’s new facilities.

The academy has been celebrating its 25th anniversary and hosted the pair, who spoke with students and gave advice.

“All of you here have a special talent, have a special ability,” said Williams. “Use that gift to spread it to the world and shine a light that you guys have to others.”

“Enjoy, take advantage of it, think about your future, think about (beginning to become) somebody, work hard, because the future is out there waiting for you,” Ortiz said. “God bless.”

Other guests on Thursday included Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.

Getting its start in 1998, the school’s new, five-story facility on Ipswich Street encompasses 153,500 square feet,

, increasing its capacity by more than 15%.

September 8th marked the first day of school for students at the

, but this was no ordinary start to the school year.

The students are embracing a new year in a brand new, state-of-the-art building on Ipswich Street in the Fenway area.

Boston Arts Academy is the city's only public high school for the visual and performing arts, and every part of this building was designed with the students' needs in mind.

The Head of School, Anne Clark, spoke with Anna Rossi about all the excitement surrounding the new facility, which is a dream come true for so many people.

Good evening, Boston Arts Academy Families. 

For the second year in a row, the City of Boston is recognizing Juneteenth, the federal holiday in the United States commemorating emancipation of enslaved African Americans. We are celebrating Juneteenth on Monday, and there will be no school. 

On Tuesday, June 21 we will follow a Monday schedule, and Wednesday, June 22 will be the last day of regular classes. 

All students will have a family conference with their advisor, either Thursday, June 23 or Friday, June 24. Advisors will share important information about closing out the school year and beginning next school year in our new building. 

Monday, June 25 is the last day of school. We have a half day celebration, starting first in advisory and ending with activities in Ronan park,

Weekly Bulletin -June 20th

Good evening, Boston Arts Academy Families 

We are looking forward to celebrating the class of 2022 at graduation Monday, June 13. 9th, 10th, and 11th graders will have a shortened day on Monday. 11th graders are invited to attend graduation. 

On Wednesday of this coming week, 9th grade students will go on a field trip to Hale Education for community building. 9th graders should have received a field trip permission form last week, and they should return it to the main office. Buses will leave our building around 8:45 at return at 2pm. 9th graders will be dismissed after the field trip. 

Also on Wednesday, 11th graders will participate in a community-building assembly led by the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute. 

Congratulations to the music department for the amazing concerts we were treated to last week. We look forward to the piano recital at Seully Hall, Boston Conservatory Wednesday at 7:00pm. 

Finally, I invite all students to look out for an “open call” audition for next year’s musical! Any student, from any majoy, who would like to be part of the musical will have the opportunity to audition. Please look for the fliers announcing the audition days/times.

This week includes some testing and some change in room numbers. Thank you for reviewing the schedules and supporting our students who are doing assessments.

This bulletin contains an announcement for everyone about a five-week plan to begin a healing process that reminds us that 

 (a reference to our school song). We are calling this "The Great Revival." We invite you to join the movement!

I also ask that everyone review the upcoming dates that are in this bulletin. The spring is a busy, exciting season at Boston Arts Academy, with many performances, MCAS, deadlines, etc. We look forward to supporting students to a successful conclusion of the school year.

Student Government, Emerging Leaders, Health and Wellness, and Administration have been working on a five-week plan to address students' concerns about the current school climate in hopes of beginning a healing process that reminds us that This is Who We Are. We are calling this the Great Revival. The plan includes, but is not limited to, Mediation throughout the month, Voices Amplified campaign, an upcoming School Assembly, This is Who We are Week, Special BAA merch, Real Talk with Dr. A every Wednesday, Day of Arts Motivation, and Self Expression, Day of Circles, and a Social Media Campain.
