New STEAM Lab coming to BAA!

Today, Headmaster Anne R. Clark released an exciting announcement about our STEAM program at BAA. This fall, BAA will be opening its very own STEAM Lab, the first of its kind in an urban public arts high school! We have hired Nettrice Gaskins, ABD in the Digital Media Program at Georgia Institute of Technology, to serve as our STEAM Lab Director.

The STEAM Lab will be a place to play, think and create across disciplinary boundaries.  It will be a lab with tools and materials for experimenting with STEAM ideas and practices. It will be a space to model emerging STEAM inspired curriculum and teaching for the larger educational community to access. The Lab will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology – a 3D printer, a laser cutter, mobile applications, and electronics – that will enable students to work collaboratively on projects with their peers and STEAM professionals.
