Yvonne Abdal

Yvonne Abdal-Khallaq joined BAAF through Operation ABLE in September 2022 and serves as the Gift Processing Coordinator.

Yvonne co-owned her family’s business, A Nubian Notion, Inc., an afro-centric store that operated in Nubian Square for decades. She was a manager and the buyer for the store for over 40 years. This experience gave Yvonne the opportunity to contribute, cultivate and share in the evolution of Black culture, consciousness, and entrepreneurship from the Civil Rights era to the present.

Yvonne studied at Fisk University and Roxbury Community College before obtaining her Associate Degree in Medical Assisting from Bay State College.

Yvonne loves the arts and as a child had the opportunity to attend the Elma Lewis School for the Performing Arts where she studied dance and music. Her two sons share her love of the arts and as children performed in the annual production of Black Nativity.

Yvonne’s hobbies are reading, attending music, theatre, and dance performances, traveling, and sharing these experiences with her sons, granddaughter, and large extended family.
