Nonprofit Leader and Former Vice President Rejoins Foundation to Drive Revenue Growth and External Partnerships

Boston, May 22, 2026 – Accomplished executive Laura Alpert has rejoined Boston Arts Academy Foundation (BAAF) as Chief Advancement and Communications Officer. Alpert previously served as the Foundation’s Vice President of Philanthropy from November 2018 to February 2022. This reconnection underscores the Foundation’s commitment to investing in trusted and experienced leadership to advance the next generation of artists, scholars, and global citizens.

As Chief Advancement and Communications Officer, Alpert is responsible for driving revenue growth, strengthening external partnerships, and advancing BAAF’s  philanthropic mission to support Boston’s only public high school for the visual and performing arts.

Before returning to BAAF, Alpert was the Chief Advancement Officer at MAB Community Services in Brookline, MA, from February 2022 to February 2026. While away, she continued supporting the BAA community as a donor and Advisory Council member.

“Coming back to this caring community feels like coming home,” said Alpert. “We are each inspired to invest in Boston Arts Academy’s creative and innovative students and alumni.”

This appointment marks the third time Alpert has collaborated with BAAF President and CEO Denella J. Clark. From November 2018 to February 2022, Alpert served as the Foundation’s Vice President of Philanthropy, and in 1999 she assisted Clark with producing and promoting the inaugural “Steppin’ Out,” The Dimock Center’s signature fundraising event.

“Laura is a collaborative leader who is passionate about connecting communities, donors and stakeholders through impactful storytelling and strategic engagement,” Clark said. “We are thrilled to welcome her back to the BAAF.”

Alpert brings nearly 30 years of experience leading nonprofit organizations in  Greater Boston and the New York Capital Region. An executive leader since 2007, she has contributed to strategy and operations, increased organizational visibility and impact, and raised more than $150 million in philanthropic support.

Alpert earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Brandeis University and a master’s degree in nonprofit management from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis. She has served on Heller’s Alumni Association Board since 2022, became its co-Vice President in 2025, and recently joined Brandeis University’s Alumni Association Board. Additionally, in 2023 she served as an Advisory Member for the Women in Leadership Program at the University of Vermont’s Grossman School of Business.

About the Boston Arts Academy Foundation

Established in 1999, the Boston Arts Academy Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization that raises essential funds from private philanthropic sources to augment the Boston Arts Academy school budget. Construction of the new BAA school building in 2022 does not change BPS’s funding formula, which does not fully cover the cost of a college preparatory academic program and a competitive arts program. About the Boston Arts Academy

Founded in 1998 as the city’s only public high school for the visual and performing arts, Boston Arts Academy (BAA) has distinguished itself among urban public high schools as a leader in innovative and effective student-centered education. Consistently recognized locally and nationally for its achievements, BAA exemplifies the power of an arts-rich education, and many BAA graduates have found success in college through the arts. BAA’s dynamic program prepares graduates to be critical thinkers, effective communicators, collaborators, and creators. Students come from all of Boston’s 23 neighborhoods to receive the formal arts training and academic instruction that will make them Boston’s next generation of artists and cultural leaders. In September 2022, the BAA community entered its new $125 million, 153,500 square foot facility. Among many highlights, it includes new and much-needed enhanced theaters, career center, academic classrooms, dance studios, music practice rooms and fashion technology studios and workspace. With the new school building, the number of students enrolled has increased to 500 and will continue to grow.
