Karimah Williams has worked in Boston Public Schools for over 20 years with the last 6 years at Boston Arts Academy in the Learning Center!! Having discovered her love for the arts at an early age with dance and theater training, Mrs. Williams pursued her passion by achieving her BFA from Salem State College. She then went on to teach dance in BPS for over ten years where she noticed how some of her talented dancers struggled academically. Becoming very intrigued in the various ways that some students learn, Mrs. Williams was determined to study and obtain strategies that would support ALL students in gaining the ability to access the curriculum. She went on to pursue a M.ED in Special Education from University of Massachusetts Boston and continued her love for working with kids as a Special Education teacher and an Inclusion Specialist. Mrs. Williams is also a certified Wilson reading program instructor. In recent years, she has also co coordinated various community service trips abroad with her students where they volunteered in schools, orphanages and built homes in Cape Verde, Dominican Republic, Panama and Costa Rica!!. Her last trip was with BAA students to Puerto Rico after the devastation of Hurricane Maria.

In her earlier years , Mrs. Williams danced professionally for various artists and venues, including Radio Disney and the Boston Celtics with the Phunk Phenomenon Dance Co. She has also performed professionally around the city in various theaters and films. While Mrs. Williams continues to still explore her passion for theater, she feels there’s no greater reward than supporting such a diverse and talented community of learners at Boston Arts Academy.
